Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared its support for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
