Trump Organization Attempted to Bring In Nearly 200 Workers on Work Permits in 2025

The former president’s family business accelerated its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this period, even as his government was placing obstacles for other companies wanting to do the same, a report released Thursday stated.

Based on data from the federal labor department, the business sought to hire at least nearly 200 overseas employees in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of requests for temporary work visas for staff including servers, office assistants, housekeepers, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the highest ever submitted by the organization, and increased from over 120 in 2021, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth time in 10 years that the former president had sought to bring in over a hundred foreign employees for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, according to available data.

The revelation comes amid a crackdown on immigration laws by his government that has involved the implementation of a $100,000 fee on H1-B visas; extra scrutiny of the actions of the 55 million people who already hold US visas; and tighter regulations for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the Trump Organization sought to employ 566 overseas workers over the five years Trump has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Significantly, the former president was questioned by certain in the GOP this week for comments justifying the need for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill particular roles.

“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to invest billions to construct a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It doesn’t work that well,” he told a host after she suggested that foreign workers undercut the wages of US workers.

The White House refused a request for response, and the business did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
