The Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first Fall Classic following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 series win in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, Toronto, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now slugged twenty-three playoff homers, making him third all-time after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that situation except for him with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Wilson said "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.
Toronto's team won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
