Suspected Stalker Asked: 'However What If I Could Be Madeleine?'
A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a recorded message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has repeatedly asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.
On Monday, the tribunal learned call records and data retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout that period.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most publicized child disappearance cases and remains open.
'I Do Not Need Money'
A separate voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I feel what I know."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "What if there is a small chance that I'm her? Then what? Is that not crucial for you?"
"I am not seeking money, I have a existence here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," she added.
The panel was told that via electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.
The investigator, a data specialist with law enforcement who collated the evidence, told the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt also contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.
On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."
That day Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I will persist and I will prove my claim."
The court heard the co-defendant struck up a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in that area in last December.
Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated using communication app to Mrs McCann to express the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the period leading up to the appearance to the village, the county, in December 2024.
The court was told communications between the two individuals, in last November, planning attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her garbage or from utensils at a eating establishment.
"We must take action," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.
On the evening of the trip to their house, Mrs Spragg dispatched a message which stated: "We are sitting near the McCanns' home with our vehicle dark like private investigators. I had hoped to do this with Peter Andrew I hadn't anticipated I would be doing that with the McCanns."
The case continues.
