Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for questions to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with performances so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
