Salah Extends Statement to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad after the controversy from his recent interview.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match subsequent to criticising the club and claiming his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
The midfielder also suggested that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the outburst were never meant to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and securing victories.”
