Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
