Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent Far Cry game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing chaos and mayhem with similar glee, all while weaving engaging, socially charged stories. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose projects have represented all of those elements.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game property, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' style by having a new location and cast of characters in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the producer.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their steady trust and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the essence of people through this complex and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and introduce our shared unconventional, visionary sensibility to the television.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
