The leader of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia, said the property was subject to an removal notice due to financial obligations incurred by the siblings.

Incendiary devices were also located at the property, the Interior Minister confirmed.

According to the local prosecutor, the property was in a poor condition and had was without power.
He thought the blast had happened on a level above the access point and told journalists it was a “premeditated and voluntary homicide”. Moments before the explosion, he mentioned personnel had “noticed a hissing sound, likely the propane tanks being activated”.
